Be SAFE! - Rules for the safe operation of a golf cart:

1. Make sure all occupants are seated inside the vehicle and are secured by safety belts.
2. Apply all traffic laws, and be aware if golf carts are allowed to be operated on the roadways or on pathways in public or private areas.
3. Don't drive recklessly. Golf carts are not toys.
4. DO not drink or do narcotics and operate a golf cart. See #3 above.
5. Do not be a distracted driver. Keep both hands on the wheel and your eyes ahead of you unless changing direction.
6. Do not overload your golf cart. Carts have weight and passenger restrictions. Failure to follow them often leads to a golf cart flipping.
7. Drivers and all passengers should keep all body parts inside the cart while vehicle is in motion unless you are signaling a turn.
8. Use your hand signals even when you have an electronic turn signal because cart lights are often difficult to see in sunlight.
9. Carefully turn and look behind golf cart before backing up.
10. Avoid sharp turns and steep inclines and declines. These are the most common reasons for golf cart rollovers.
11. When exiting the golf cart, set the emergency brake and take your keys with you.
12. Be careful of wet and icy conditions that can reduce golf cart traction.
13. Don't let kids and teens drive golf carts if illegal and/or without adult presence.
